harry potter and the queer bookstores
Check it out, I got my copy of Deathly Hallows, and without pre-ordering and going through all the brouhaha! You guys should know by now that some queer bookstores in Malaysia refused to sell the book because the publisher decides to sell it at much lower price to hypermarkets like Carrefour and Tesco. What they didn’t know is that not all states in Malaysia are privileged with hypermarkets so the only way for them to get the book is through bookstores.
Seriously, those bookstores need to stop being such a sourpuss. International bookstores like Kinokuniya and Borders didn’t give a damn, so I don’t understand why local bookstores should. This is why you should never hire aging has-been bitches with sand in their vagina to run a business. In the end of the day, they will get all pussy and instead of fighting back, they get into denial and starts pointing fingers.
Well, all is well now. I got my copy at Tesco by the way, for only RM69.90. That’s roughly Euro 15, USD$20.00 or GBP10! Yes, 10 pounds. Those people in Britain must be jealous, seeing how their own people (Tesco is British) is selling the book cheaper in other countries. But I don’t think it will make that much of an impact though. Malaysia has more drug addicts than readers, so no matter how expensive or how cheap, it’s a lost cause.

I don't understand the mentality of some of you people. What is the freaking wrong with TESCO and Carrefour selling at RM69.90?
And what's the fuss about?
SO WHAT if the hypermarket is undercutting?
If you can get a book at a lower price, YOU BUY IT!
So, why want to buy the book at RM109.90? Because your principles? Because you want to prove to other people that you can afford a RM100+ book? or you just want to brag about it?
and about marketing. Do you really think that a book that people has been anticipating for 2 years NEEDS to advertise it to the fans? People has been hoping to get it EARLIER by one year or 2. So, saying that the hypermarkets are stealing the bookstores hard earn thunder is just crap. Harry Potter is a name people want to "ride" on it's popularity.
Another thing, what's the freaking deal about "cheap"?
Does that mean that my cousin who is a fanatic Harry Potter fan is a "fake" fan because she bought it at RM69.90, while my friend who bought it at RM109.90 because he just want to read it because his girlfriend is a huge fan is a REAL fan?
What kind of illogical, mentality or absurdness is this? I don't understand you all, when you all can buy pirate CDs/DVDs, but shouts "FOUL", when a highly popular book is given a huge discounts.
I am just sad that "common sense" is just a myth nowadays. While "illogical" stuff like, "hey, buying at RM69.90 is bad, we should buy at RM109.90."
What the hell is going on in this world? or in the minds of Malaysians? I hope someone can figure it out, because I can't. top

why would you want to buy it at 109.90 when you have a choice to buy the book at 69.90 and also spend the additional rm40 on Ice Cream and Snacks which you can pick up on the way out... wakakakaka top

anonymous 1: no hustle actually. the book is not exactly flying off the shelves here in JB. i can still alot of them in Tesco and Carrefour. I have yet to read it coz i gave HBP a skip and now im a little lost.
anonymous 2: the thing is, it is very Malaysian of them. They just cant stand competition, which is stupid. For the people that pay premium, probably they pre-ordered the book and had no choice but the get it from the bookstores, and for some them had no access to Tesco or Carrefour.
bernsy: hahaha, true true. but i pity a few people who doesnt know about the boycott and queue up for the book only to find out that they cant purchase the book.
fyng: you pre-ordered from Kino? I heard they give out special gifts with every purchase of the book. I think its a quill or something.
oh yeah, Ping getting married! He even told me not to do anything in October, and remind me to give him ang pow first for his wedding. Cheh! :X top
